Lisa has been a dedicated part of the Statewide Independent Living Council of Alaska since 2019, initially as a volunteer. She was thrilled to officially join the team as an Administrative Assistant in December 2022. Shortly after, she took on the role of Inclusive Emergency Management Coordinator, where she deepened her focus on disaster preparedness and inclusive planning. Now, Lisa serves as one of the Youth Program Coordinators, working on SILC’s youth initiatives, with a special emphasis on Youth RISE (Ready in Safety and Emergency Management). This role allows her to combine her passion for empowering youth with her expertise in preparedness and advocacy.
Originally from Portland, Oregon, Lisa grew up embracing the city’s “Keep Portland Weird” mentality, which taught her to honor each person’s unique talents and gifts. (Yes, she still believes socks with sandals can be a bold fashion statement!) She is deeply committed to disability advocacy, particularly in the field of mental health, and strives to ensure that Alaska’s youth and young adults are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to create safer, more resilient communities.
Lisa is the proud mother of two, a life coach, an artist, and a dog mama. (Her dog firmly believes he is the most important part of her résumé.) When she’s not guiding youth or advocating for inclusive preparedness, you can find her exploring Alaska’s great outdoors, where she feels most connected and at peace. Indoors, she enjoys spending time with family and diving into creative art projects.
Lisa is grateful to be part of the SILC team and is committed to serving Alaska’s diverse communities through programs that emphasize inclusivity, empowerment, and readiness for whatever challenges may come.
